Jackson joins NIU after a successful stint at Murray State, where he played a crucial role in the Racers' impressive 17-win season during their inaugural year in the Missouri Valley Conference. But wait, there's more! Jackson's coaching journey began at William & Mary, followed by UMass, Cincinnati, and Virginia Tech. During his time at Cincinnati, the Bearcats dominated, winning back-to-back American Athletic Conference Tournament titles and producing AAC Player of the Year awardees Gary Clark and Jarron Cumberland.
Next, we have Assistant Coach/Director of Basketball Operations Eddie Fernandez, who brings NBA experience to the table. Fernandez spent last season with the Washington Wizards, working in basketball operations. Before that, he honed his skills as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, UTEP, and served as a student manager for four seasons.
And this is the part most people miss... Jacob Kurtz, initially brought on as Director of Basketball Operations four seasons ago, has been promoted to his current role. Kurtz's journey with the Huskies began after five years at UMass, where he held various positions, including Assistant Director of Operations and Director of Scouting/Video. Prior to UMass, Kurtz spent two seasons at Chattanooga, contributing to the Mocs' record-breaking 29 victories and their Southern Conference dominance.
Last but not least, we have Eric Rwahwire, who joins the staff as Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development. Rwahwire has been making waves at Texas Tech as a graduate assistant for the past two seasons. During his time in Lubbock, the Red Raiders achieved remarkable success, including a 28-win campaign and an Elite Eight appearance. Rwahwire's own basketball journey is equally impressive, having played collegiately at UC Riverside and the University of Toronto, and even representing the Uganda National Team.
